Flamenet Files is free, open source, and yours to self-host. There is nothing to upsell you and no paid tier holding features back, so if it is going to be paid for, it is paid for like this.

What the money is for

Mostly one thing: an independent security review. The code is open and tested, and the design is published, but nobody outside this project has audited it — and a product that asks you to trust its encryption should be able to point at a review it did not write itself. That is the gap donations close first. After it, hosting and the Apple and Google developer fees the mobile apps will need.

What it isn't

This is a donation, not a purchase. There is no reward, no early access, no equity, and it buys no influence over what gets built. Extant 2000 LLC is a company rather than a charity, so it is not tax-deductible. If you would rather give money to something more urgent than a file encryptor, do that instead — that is a genuine suggestion.
